This lesson demonstrates how to apply Alien Skin Splat edges. A Free trail can be found Here.
To work along exactly, download my (Whitley Bay Spanish City) Jpeg Here. Unzip the file and open the image onto Photoshop’s workspace.
My lesson Here demonstrates how to create photographic edges using the Quick Mask Tool, and my lesson Here demonstrates how to utilise ready-made greyscale masks. My lesson Here demonstrates how to create oval/circular edge frames.
Undo and Navigation Steps Two ways of undoing steps are from the top menu, Edit then Step Backwards. Alternatively, click a previous snapshot in the History Palette.
Navigate (zoom in and pan) your image using the Navigator Palette,
or the Zoom Tool.
Activate The Hand Tool by tapping the Spacebar, keeping the Spacebar pressed, pan your image in the usual way.
1/ Open your start image onto Photoshop’s workspace.
2/ Then from the top menu, choose Filter then Alien Skin Splat. From the subsequent drop-down list, choose Edges.
3/ Now, click the Settings tab, and you will see the following (Edges), drop-down list. Play with different Edges and settings, to create an edge you like, then click OK to apply it. For my photograph, I chose the following Thick Lines settings.
Whatever edge you apply, experiment with all of the settings. For example, the Margin slider dictates the width of the white edge, and the Feature Size alters the size of the dots, lines, or pixilation settings. There is so much you can do with Alien Skin Splat Edges - instantly! Equally exciting are the following filters - Border Stamp, Frame, Fill Stamp, Patchwork and Resurface filters.
