Suitable for Adobe Photoshop CS CS2 & CS3
Skill Level - Intermediate

Example_1-by-Wendi

This lesson demonstrates how to create an animated glitter signature.

Undo and Navigation Steps
Two ways of undoing steps are from the top menu, Edit then Step Backwards. Alternatively, click a previous snapshot in the History Palette.

Navigate (zoom in and pan) your image using the Navigator Palette,

or the Zoom Tool.

Activate The Hand Tool by tapping the Spacebar, keeping the Spacebar pressed, pan your image in the usual way.

1/
Open a New document, and set the following (Transparent) attributes.

2/
Then activate the Horizontal Type Tool.
Horizontal Type Tool Lesson

And apply the type, and colour, of your choice - Colour Picker example
Here.

3/
Now, activate the Move Tool.

Then left-click, and drag your type to a central position.

4/
Now, from the foot of the Layers palette, left-click the tiny black arrow, next to Add a layer style (f - fx) icon, and choose Bevel and Emboss from the drop-down list. In the subsequent Layer Style dialogue box, apply the settings of your choice, then click OK.
I am using an
Eyecandy Bevel. Note: Crop away the extraneous transparent canvas.

5/
From the top menu, choose Layer then choose Merge Visible .

6/
Then from the Layers palette, right-click your type layer, and from the drop-down
menu, click Duplicate Layer. In the subsequent Duplicate Layer dialogue box - click OK.

Now, right-click the new layer, and again, choose Duplicate Layer, and your Layers palette (and type) will resemble the following.

7/
Activate the bottom (original) layer.

8/
Then from the top menu, choose Filter then Noise then Add Noise. In the subsequent Add Noise dialogue box, enter your noise settings, then click OK

Note
If you don’t see an immediate change to your image, this is normal, you will see the glitter when the top layer is active.

9/
Now, from the Layers palette, activate the middle layer.

And apply a slightly different Add Noise Amount

10/
Then activate the top layer.

And apply a different Add Noise Amount to it.  Your three layers will have different Noise Amounts, and they are now ready to animate in ImageReady.

With your three image-frames ready to animate, link
Here for final animating
instructions. Note. CS3 does not include ImageReady, the link directly above-left, explains how to save your animation.
