Brighten Glass

 

 Brighten Lifeless Glass
  Suitable for Adobe Photoshop CS CS2 & CS3
Skill Level - Intermediate

This lesson demonstrates how to brighten glass using four Adjustment Layers. To work along, download the image HereUnzip the file and open it onto Photoshop’s
workspace.

Undo and Navigation Steps
Two ways of undoing steps are from the top menu, Edit then Step Backwards. Alternatively, click a previous snapshot in the History Palette.

Navigate (zoom in and pan) your image using the Navigator Palette,

or the Zoom Tool.

Activate The Hand Tool by tapping the Spacebar, keeping the Spacebar pressed, pan your image in the usual way.

Open your image onto Photoshop’s workspace.

Then click the following Create a new fill or adjustment layer arrow, and choose Levels from the drop-down list.



In the subsequent Levels dialogue box, click the Auto button then click OK - or experiment.

Click the Create a new fill or adjustment layer arrow again, and this time, choose Curves from the drop-down list. Then set the following curves settings and click OK. You are looking to apply a gentle s curve.

Note
The Curves dialogue has changed in CS3, however, it works in a similar way.

Click the Create a new fill or adjustment layer arrow, and this time, click Colour Balance from the drop-down list. Set the following attributes into the Colour Balance dialogue box, then click OK.

Click the Create a new fill or adjustment layer arrow, and this time click Hue and Saturation. In the subsequent Hue and Saturation dialogue box, move just the Saturation slider, then click OK.

From the top menu, choose Filter then choose Sharpen and apply a Sharpen filter - my Sharpen Lesson can be found
Here. I chose Smart Sharpen.

When you are happy with your work, from the top menu, choose Layer then choose Flatten Image, then
save your work.
