This tutorial demonstrates how to create a studio background using the Clouds and Lens Flare filters.

Undo and Navigation Steps
Two ways of undoing steps are from the top menu, Edit then Step Backwards. Alternatively, click a previous snapshot in the History Palette.

Navigate (zoom in and pan) your image using the Navigator Palette,

or the Zoom Tool.

Activate The Hand Tool by tapping the Spacebar, keeping the Spacebar pressed, pan your image in the usual way.

1/
Open a New document and enter the following attributes.

2/
Now, set your Foreground and Background to two colours you would like your studio background to consist of.

3/
Then from the top menu, choose Filter then choose Render then choose Clouds. Note: If you don’t like the way the clouds have rendered, click an earlier snapshot in the History palette to remove the clouds, then reapply them.

4/
To fade the clouds, from the top menu, choose Edit then choose Fade Clouds.
In the subsequent dialogue box, adjust the slider and find a look you like.

5/ Optional
From the top menu, choose Filter then choose Render then choose Lens Flare. In the subsequent dialogue box, apply the settings of your choice, then click OK.

6/
If you wish, experiment further with Photoshop’s effects - then from the top menu, choose Layer then choose Flatten Image.
