Tip
For seamless rendering, ensure your type’s colour is as close to the gel - or metallic colour, as possible.

3/
Then activate the Horizontal Type Tool.

And apply the type of your choice, centralising it with the Move Tool.
Horizontal Type lesson.

4/
Now, from the toolbar, activate the Magic Wand Tool.
Lesson.

And left-click inside the text to surround it with a selection marquee.

5/
The preparation is complete, and it is time to apply a filter. Therefore, from the top menu, choose Filter then either; Flaming Pear then Primus, or KTP then Gel.
Screen Capture Here!

Note: Reply OK to the Rasterise type prompt.

Primus Filter
Applying the Primus filter is straightforward, you select your choice of metallic filter then click OKNote: When you first use Primus, you are prompted to enter the code you were sent via e-mail, from Flaming Pear’s website.

Corel KTP Gel Filter
Applying the KTP’s gel filter requires a little organisation - you first need to decide whether you want a gel or a metallic effect. You then need to set the Environment. Environment is the type of filter (gel/metallic). For example, to apply a shiny silver effect, once KTP Gel is open, click the white arrow, (indicated below), and in the subsequent Options menu, click Load Preset.

6/
In the subsequent New Preset dialogue box, locate and left-click the silver sphere, then click OK.

KPT’s workspace will change to the following screen capture.

7/
Now, click the tick (highlighted above) and your type will be filled with a glossy, silver metallic effect.

8/
Splattered Glitter Metallic
Whilst in KTP’s workspace, you can change the silver metallic appearance to a splattered look. To do so, from the following dialogue box, click the splatter icon, highlighted below. (Note: Alter the brush size if you wish).

9/
Now, apply the splatter brush to your metallic text. To revert the metal to its original smoothness, utilise the following Smooth (water drop) icon.

Play with the settings within this menu, to see how they effect your metal.

Slowly
pass the splatter icon over the metal text, as shown below.

Continue building the effect slowly. The amount of displacement (splatter) is a personal choice, therefore, experiment! When you are happy with the result, click the tick icon to apply.

Familiarise yourself with this fun plugin, by experimenting with different metallic and gel Environments, adjusting their appearance by playing with the following Opacity, Refraction, Environment Blend, and 3-D Lighting settings.

Note
If you click the following icon, found right at the bottom - on the left.

You will see the following New Preset menu. You can now choose an alternative gel or metallic Environment. Left-click to make your choice, then click the tick icon to set it.

For a gel effect, choose a gel-type Environment, such as the following, there are many gel Environment to play with - therefore, experiment!

10/ Optional - Change Colour
To change the hue, from the top menu, choose Image then choose Adjustments then choose Colour Balance. In the subsequent dialogue box, experiment with the settings to create a hue you like. For my lilac metal, I utilised the following settings.

l

11/
When you are happy with your gel, or metallic effect, save it as an Transparent Gif, as explained
Here. Alternatively, from the top menu, choose Layer then New Fill Layer, then choose either, Solid Colour, Gradient or Pattern, as explained Here. Drag the type layer above the fill layer, then from the top menu, choose Layer then Flatten
