3D Metallic Type

 

 Create 3D Metallic Type using Eyecandy Impact’s Extrude Filter
  Suitable for Adobe Photoshop CS CS2 & CS3

This lesson demonstrates how to create 3D type utilising Eyecandy 5 Impact.

Undo and Navigation Steps
Two ways of undoing steps are from the top menu, Edit then Step Backwards. Alternatively, click a previous snapshot in the History Palette.

Navigate (zoom in and pan) your image using the Navigator Palette,

or the Zoom Tool.

Activate The Hand Tool by tapping the Spacebar, keeping the Spacebar pressed, pan your image in the usual way.

Open a New document, and set the following attributes.

Set the Foreground colour to mid grey.

Then activate the Horizontal Type Tool.

And apply the text of your choice, I set the following attributes.

After you have applied your text, it is ready for the metallic filter.

From the top menu, choose Filter then choose Eyecandy Impact then choose Chrome (reply OK to the Rasterise Type prompt), and apply a Chrome filter - I chose the following (default) settings.

Again, from the top menu, choose Filter then choose Eyecandy 5 Impact then choose Extrude, and choose a 3D effect, Tip: You are able to move the direction, and depth of the 3D effect by dragging (and rotating) the following handle.





There are many extrude and metallic effects to play with; therefore, familiarise yourself with both filters, and see how they effect the look of your type.
