This tutorial demonstrates how to take screen captures and how to edit them in Photoshop.
Undo and Navigation Steps Two ways of undoing steps are from the top menu, Edit then Step Backwards. Alternatively, click a previous snapshot in the History Palette.
Navigate (zoom in and pan) your image using the Navigator Palette,
or the Zoom Tool.
Activate The Hand Tool by tapping the Spacebar, keeping the Spacebar pressed, pan your image in the usual way.
1/ Ensure Photoshop is open, then navigate to a web page - or page you wish to capture.
2/ Then tap the following Print Screen key of your keyboard.
The page you have just captured will be saved to Windows Clipboard.
3/ Now, navigate to Photoshop, then from its top menu, choose File then choose New. In the subsequent New dialogue box, you will notice that its Height and Width dimensions automatically represent the size of your PC’s monitor screen. Click OK to accept the settings
4/ From the top menu, choose Edit then choose Paste. The capture you have saved to Windows Clipboard, will now be pasted inside your new (transparent) document - as illustrated below.
5/ Now you have created your screen capture, it can be resized, cropped, or highlighted in the usual way.
6/ If you wish to highlight a certain area, activate the Pencil Tool, and set the Foreground colour of your choice - I am setting mine to red. Now, highlight an area with the Pencil Tool.
7/ Alternatively, activate the Custom Shape Tool.
And surround an area with your choice of shape. To apply a Drop Shadow to the highlight, from the foot of the Layers palette, click the Add a layer style f or fx icon, and choose Drop Shadow.
There are many ways of highlighting specific areas, experiment and see how custom shapes and other tools can be implemented.
