Navigate (zoom in and pan) your image using the Navigator Palette,
or the Zoom Tool.
Activate The Hand Tool by tapping the Spacebar, keeping the Spacebar pressed, pan your image in the usual way. 1/ Open your start images onto Photoshop’s workspace.
2/ Then activate the Move Tool (Lesson), and drag the window blinds onto to the portrait image, resizing and repositioning the window blinds with the Free Transform Command. Discard the original window blinds image.
3/ Ensure the window blinds layer is active, then press Ctrl then I to invert the window blind colours.
4/ Then change the window blind’s Layer Blend Mode from Normal to Soft Light. And reduce the Opacity slider to around 68%.
5/ Now, carefully remove parts of the blind’s shadow that falls behind the subject, using the Eraser Tool - altering the Opacity as required. Eraser Tool Lesson.
6/ Prior to flattening the layers, experiment with different Blend Modes and Layer Opacities. If you wish, apply a Displacement Map as described in my Create Shadows from Custom Shapes Tutorial Here! (Chapters 5 to 8), and add Light Diffusion as described in Chapters 10 and 11 of the aforementioned lesson - or by utilising the Eraser Tool.
