Create A Three-panelled Triptych Frame - Advanced

This tutorial demonstrates how to create a Three-panelled Triptych Picture Frame. To work along, you are welcome to download the Start Images Here. Unzip the file and open the contents onto Paint Shop pro’s workspace.
Understand Layers
Triptych - pronounced trip-tick
The word Triptych originates from the Greek language - Tri meaning three. It refers to
three-panelled artistic productions that were popular during the middle ages; during this era, Christian Art was popular, and many churches today, display relics demonstrating triptych panelling in the form of wood carvings, paintings and stained glass windows.

Open your choice of Start Image onto Paint Shop Pro’s workspace - File then Open.
Tip
Duplicate your Start Image (Window then Duplicate); then close the original and work on the Duplication.
Tip
Double-left-click your image’s upper menu bar to enlarge its workspace. In addition, if you have a Scroll Mouse, you can resize your image using the mouse’s Central Roller.
Note
You will be utilising the same rectangle for all three panels; therefore, ensure it is the correct size for your needs, before commencing.

Now, from the Tools Toolbar, activate The Selection Tool  .
And enter the following Rectangle settings into the Tool Options Palette or Ribbon.

Then left-click and draw a single Rectangular Selection Marquee over your photograph’s
left-side - as illustrated below.

From the top menu, choose Selections then choose Promote (Selection) To Layer.

Now, from the Tools Toolbar; activate the Mover/Move Tool  .
Then right-click inside the Rectangular Selection Marquee, and drag it to the centre of the photograph, as illustrated below.

Activate the Background (Bottom) Layer.

Then from the top menu, choose Selections then choose Promote (Selection) To Layer.

Again, from the Tools Toolbar; activate the Mover/Move Tool .
Then right-click inside the Rectangular Selection Marquee, and drag it to the right of the photograph, as illustrated below.

Again; activate the Background (Bottom) Layer.

Then from the top menu, choose Selections then choose Promote (Selection) To Layer.
You will now have three triptych panels sitting on individual Layers - as illustrated
below.

From the top menu, choose Selections then choose Select None - Ctrl then D.

Now, hide the Background Layer’s Visibility - by clicking the Toggle Visibility Icon.
 
Tip - All Versions
You can nudge each Rectangular Panel into position pixel-by-pixel by tapping your Keyboard’s Arrows Key.
Paint Shop Pro 7 and 8 only: to be able to nudge your Rectangular Panel, pixel-by-pixel; first activate the Deformation/Deform Tool  .
Then (press and hold the Shift Key), and nudge the Rectangular Panel into position
pixel-by-pixel by tapping your Arrow Keys. (Disable the Deformation Tool by activating the Mover/Move Tool).

From the top menu, choose Layers then choose New Raster Layer; then drag the New Raster Layer beneath the (three) Panel Layers - as illustrated below.

Then from the top menu, choose Image then choose Canvas Size. From the subsequent dialogue box, enter the following New Dimensions settings, then click OK.
Note
You are looking to enlarge the Transparent Layers Canvas size; I have enlarged my Height and Width values by 60 Pixels (by typing new measurements into the New Dimensions dialogue box). Choose a number of pixels value (Height and Width) that suits your image’s needs.
Tip
Activate each panel’s Layer, consecutively, and from the top menu, choose Effects then choose 3D Effects then choose Drop Shadow  .
Note
Using the Arrow Keys if necessary, nudge each panel into their final positions.
Tip
Preserve your Layers by saving your work as a Paint Shop Pro Image File - File then Save As.

Now, right-click the Background Layer, and choose Delete from the subsequent
drop-down list. Then from the top menu, choose Layers then choose Merge then choose Merge Visible.

Then create a New (Transparent) Raster Layer; and drag it to the bottom of the Layers Stack. Now, activate the Flood Fill Tool, then change the Colour/Material Palette’s Foreground Swatch to your choice of Solid Colour, Pattern or Gradient;- and Flood Fill the Transparent Layer with your choice of Material.

Then from the top menu, choose Layers then choose Merge then choose Merge All (Flatten).

Congratulations, your Three-panelled Triptych Frame is complete and is ready to save.
Tip
For extra clarity; from the top menu, choose Effects/Adjust then choose
Sharpen/Sharpness. From the subsequent drop-down list, apply a Sharpening Filter of your choice, then click OK.
